There are times in life when things can feel difficult in ways that are hard to explain. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, stuck, or noticing patterns in your relationships or behaviours that you would like to understand. Sometimes there has been a specific event that has affected you, and at other times it may simply be a sense that something doesn't feel quite right.
Psychotherapy offers a space to slow down and explore whatever you are experiencing, at a pace that feels manageable for you. It is an opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a way that feels meaningful and relevant to your life right now. Together we can gently make sense of your experiences, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and how your past may be influencing your present.
Some experiences can feel emotionally or mentally overwhelming, and it can be helpful to have someone alongside you, being with you in what you are feeling and helping you make sense of your experience. We may explore relationships, difficult emotions, life transitions, loss, trauma, self-esteem or recurring patterns that no longer serve you. We can increase awareness of yourself and your relationships. We can gently explore feelings that may have felt too difficult or frightening to face alone, allowing them the space to shift. We can reflect on behaviours you may find yourself repeating without understanding why, explore relationship patterns, work towards a goal, or focus on a difficulty you wish to overcome.
Typically we would talk things through, but I am also trained to work creatively and can incorporate approaches such as mindfulness where these feel helpful. I believe that healing happens within a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. I will work alongside you with empathy, curiosity and compassion as we explore what matters most to you. As your understanding grows, you may find yourself responding to life's challenges with greater confidence and awareness. This process can help you feel stronger and more grounded, allowing acceptance and reducing the power that past experiences may hold over your present.

Whether you come with a clear goal or simply a feeling that something needs to change, we can meet for a first session with no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel right for you. If it does, we may agree a block of time to work together or simply take it one session at a time, depending on what feels right for you.
